Protect Equipment with the New Viscometer Testing

Protect Equipment with the New Viscometer Testing

Viscosity is one of oil’s most important properties. This is a measure of a fluids resistance to flow at a specific temperature.

Water, oxidation, soot and antifreeze cause the viscosity to increase or thicken and fuel causes the oil’s viscosity to decrease. This spring NMC’s S-O-S lab installed a new viscometer which will enable the laboratory to consistently monitor the oil in our customer’s equipment. Combined with our other testing, this enables us to better identify problems from oil sludging, coolant entry, fuel dilution and even oil transfer between compartments.
