The backhoe is the most common piece of machinery used for digging, trenching, backfilling or handling material. Caterpillar sets the industry standard with powerful, comfortable, versatile machines designed to do more work faster.
The E-Series represents the next generation of backhoe loaders. The series includes three models with new features targeted toward operator productivity. Included in the line-up are the 416E, 420E, and 430E – all upgrades of the previous D Series machines.
The 416E is an entry-level machine with a dig depth of 14.3 feet. The 420E and 430E are offered in integrated tool-carrier configurations, giving them application in jobs needing quick tool changeout or a parallel loading linkage. The 420E features a dig depth of 14.3 feet while the 430E has a dig depth of 15.42 feet. An additional option on the E-Series is the extendible stick, which increases digging depth to 17.92, 17.92 and 19.5 feet.
CAT’s 4.4 L four-cylinder inline Tier 2 3054C diesel is installed across the range at ratings of 74, 89, and 97 net hp. These machines will also be CAT’s first backhoe loader models to be offered with its AccuGrade system. This allows the backhoe loaders to be platform ready for other technologies such as GPS systems.
New cab features include a curved glass windshield, a low-sloping hood for greater sight lines and all cab controls and pedals have been removed from the floor. The controls and pedals have been replaced with a pilot-operated joystick for operation of the machines with thumb rollers for the extendible stick or hammer attachments.
When the job demands big power, the Caterpillar E-Series is ready. Load more, lift more and dig deeper with this industry-leading machine.
