For decades, NMC Power Systems has been operating successfully under extremely competitive conditions, providing reliable power generation systems to customers.
Recently, NMC Power Systems and its ACERT™ Technology caught the attention of Kalmar Industries Corporation. CAT C6.6 ACERT engines now power both Kalmar Ottawa model off-road terminal tractors and medium-duty lift trucks. With more than 500 types, Caterpillar is among the world’s largest engine makers, and the only one with this technology.
Kalmar Ottawa model off-road terminal tractors and Kalmar lift trucks are designed to relocate semi-trailers and materials within ports, manufacturing and distribution facilities. The company’s Ottawa tractors are designed to move three to five times as many trailers as a traditional over-the-road truck, according to Randy Dennis, the company’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Support.
People Behind NMC Engines
According to Dave Watson, OEM Sales Representative with NMC, the CAT C6.6 ACERT was the best match for both the terminal tractor and the lift truck. “Preliminary testing shows the C6.6 ACERT achieves better fuel consumption than competitive engines,” says Watson. “Torque has also shown to be superior, with 656 lb./ft. versus about 590 lb./ft. with a competitive engine.”
The goal at NMC continues to be that of meeting and exceeding the performance requirements of our customers as measured by reliability, durability, fuel efficiency and owning and operating costs. ACERT Technology and the support received from NMC enables Caterpillar off-road machines to meet that goal.
